When you create a Troopo account, we collect your phone number for authentication. You may also provide your name, your children's names and grade levels, your zipcode, and a profile photo.
When you grant contacts permission, we access your device's contact list to help you find friends on Troopo and enable network-based playdate visibility. Contact data is stored securely and never shared with third parties.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Authenticate your identity via SMS verification
- Show you relevant playdates and activities near your location
- Match playdates to your children's age groups
- Connect you with families in your network
- Send notifications about playdates you've created or joined
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. Your information is shared only:
- With other Troopo users as needed to facilitate playdates (e.g., your name is visible to participants)
- With service providers who help us operate the app (AWS, Twilio for SMS)
- When required by law
Data Security
Your data is stored in AWS with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled through AWS Cognito with industry-standard security practices.
Children's Privacy
Troopo is designed for parents and guardians. We do not allow children under 18 to create accounts. All child-related information (names, grade levels) is provided and managed by the parent or guardian.
Your Rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at support@troopo.app. You can also delete your account from within the app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app.
